Stone and Sea

White-capped waves race toward the rocky shore,

Trying to escape their mistress, Wind.

Wind desires to take Stone as a lover and Sea as a slave.

Stone embraces Sea and they dance together gracefully.

Sea's delicate spray reaches toward Sun,

And Sun's smile of approval glitters as a rainbow of jewels.

The first dance over, Stone and Sea part slowly,

Touching longingly until the very end.

Jealous Wind, frenzied, strikes out ever more furiously,

Not realizing she only draws the lovers closer.

In trying to create chaos, she creates harmony.

In trying to steal another's lover, she strengthens their bond.

Reunited by Wind, Stone and Sea meet again and again,

Wild and untamed, each always reaching for the other.

Sun becomes angered by Wind's jealousy and rage.

He wants her for his own.

His face darkens as Sun and Wind battle above Stone and Sea.

Finally Wind grows tired and leaves.

Sun smiles once again on Stone and Sea,

And the lovers' touch becomes a gentle caress.

From the recesses of my mind (so yeah, it's COPYRIGHTED, A. Therrien, 2007), dedicated to my husband, my heart, my love.
