The Curse of the Big Mouth

THINKING BACK on some of the dumb shit we did as teenagers, I started to feel an almost desperate need to believe one idiotic (on retrospect) but thoroughly amusing (at the time) bit of teenage stupidity we succumbed to "back in the day" was not just isolated to our particular school and our particular generation. Interestingly, I got my affirmation years later.... as a parent with teenagers.

In high school, we were required to take a foreign language credit. At the time, our district offered only French and Spanish, so we were herded like good little sheeplings into one class or the other. By the end of the first week of class, we could all swear in that language; it was practically one of the first things we learned, in fact. Of course, this knowledge was not imparted unto us by the teacher but by the upperclassmen who had learned it during THEIR first week of class, as underclassmen; and the knowledge rolled on from year to year. I just had to believe it was not endemic to a bunch of hicks back in the 1980s, like a disease picked up from the water or a side effect of pesticide sprayed on the fields.

I'm the verbal equivalent of a tone-deaf musician in anything other than my native English, so it was kind of a coin toss which language to take. There I was, freshman year, in French I, the French III and IV students passing along the sacred knowledge of prior generations.... Really important shit like casse-toi, pauvre con and other stuff you could say and know you would not get into trouble, since anyone not privy had no idea what the hell you were saying anyhow. It takes the punch out of telling someone "fuck you, prick" in French when they don't understand what you're saying, but when you're 13, anything illicit is something to laugh about like a hyena on steroids. Then, of course, were the little tidbits passed amongst ourselves based on our various ancestries, like gruba dupa and lutsch meine eier.

We were really fucking weird. Unfortunately, *my* weirdness never really went away.

When I was young, I was fascinated by sign language and scarfed down as much as I could, trying to learn. The attention span of a 7-year-old, though, has a tendency to put a damper on taking knowledge-seeking activities to higher levels; not to mention the fact I had no one to talk to in Sign, so it was kind of a lost cause.

Years later, I met The Husband. Who is Deaf. Who only "speaks" ASL. Who does not read lips. Shit. I once again found myself in that favorite position of mine, the one between the rock and the hard spot: I really just wanted to fuck so I kind of needed to learn how to talk to him, if for no other reason than to communicate said desire to fuck.

Thus began my next journey into the non-English-speaking world.... And I'm not much better at signing than I am at speaking French; after almost 7 years, I still pidgin.

But this is where I got my affirmation, or at least partly. My boys were learning the language alongside me, but I needed to know the swear words. This was !vital! to learning the language, of course, and amongst the first lessons I received. No, these did not come from the books and videos I checked out at the library. They did not even come off the Internet. They came directly from a lifelong speaker of the language, a prelingually Deaf man whom I ended up not only fucking but marrying.

American Sign Language 101 gone wrong?

Back on track.... ANYHOW, we're "talking," the boys are watching and learning, and I'll be damned if they didn't pick up those dirty words out of context! Then their friends would come over and they would teach them - of course - those dirty words. THEN.... the high school (my kids go to the same schools I did, just different teachers.... I imagine most of mine are withered up and/or fossilized by now) started offering ASL as an alternative for the foreign language credit, so my oldest signed up. Having an advantage with sign being used in the home, he started that cycle anew, passing on those oh-so-important cusses to his fellow students, knowledge to be bestowed upon future generations of students....

There's gotta be something in the water.

What a Great Idea

Diesel has inspired me to a great idea [ALL. . . HAIL. . . DIESEL], but I think I'm going to take all the credit for it anyhow, because I'm entitled to be an asshole every once in a while. It's just a shame that the truly great ideas seem so few and far between. Then again, maybe it's all perspective.

I've gone all over the place here with everything from ranting and raving about stuff I see in the news to whining and moaning about my disease and personal trials and tribulations with a little humor and a whole lot of weirdness thrown in for good measure. After all, as the name implies, whatever floats my boat. However, I have a feeling it might be a source of morbid fascination for the folks who dare to come back for a second visit, let alone those who actually feel brave enough to add this site to their feed readers (amazingly enough, there are a few, you poor souls), to see what kind of crap comes out of my mouth (or keyboard) next. I think it's time to recover and clean up this train wreck.

Anyhow, Diesel was busy with one of his own little hoo-hoos, and he was throwing out ideas for blog names that might indicate something more impressive than your run-of-the-mill stuff that is in abundance all over the net and recycled ad nauseum and perhaps making more of an impression when applying to one of his other sites, Humor-Blogs.com. Go read what The Man has to say, since he explains it much better than I can, and at least he's coherent. Great post, Diesel.

Anyhow, I have no desire to just drop and run from My Boat, it's kind of like home, but I do have a new site in the making (thanks for the name inspiration, Diesel), Mainlining Mountain Dew. I have a URL but nothing's up yet, so give me time. THAT'S where I'll be concentrating my humor and witticisms, stupidity (i.e., Future of America), and the great emails and pictures people pass along to me that I want to share. There will likely be duplicate stuff there from here, since some of the stuff I've put up here was pretty fucking hilarious and deserves to be recycled.

Til then, lotsa love,
A.

P.S.: Dude, I'm totally stealing your idea and don't feel the least bit bad about it!

Is Your Vagina Depressed?

I had to. I couldn't help it. I was reading FOX News and saw this link, and I had to click it. It was an overwhelming, irresistible urge.

Is your vagina depressed? Here, I'm thinking someone's got a cure for not getting enough nookie, but it's Dr. Manny interviewing a woman and her doctor about vulvodynia (chronic pain syndrome involving the vulvar/vaginal area).

No, it's not a cure for a depressed vagina.

Ah, Fluck It

I've changed and rearranged AGAIN, but I'm not done. I need to put my blog roll back up. Maybe I'll get to it in my next life. Or maybe not.

Insanely Evil?

I don't know why I get such a kick out of this. Maybe I'm truly a meanie at heart?

Nah. It's just a commercial anyhow - it's SUPPOSED to make us laugh, especially when the guy gets his sack smacked.

Email Curiosity

OK. . . I know, you're sick of hearing how I love email, spam and all, but I have a noodle-scratcher for ya: WHY is my spam email box filled up with shit dated January 18, 2038? Like 1450 of them.

2038? Fuck me. . . The last 35 years have been a bitch and I sure as hell don't plan on sticking around for another 30, especially if this is the kind of email I have to look forward to. Maybe they know that's when I'll need Viagra or a penis extender, even though I don't have a penis? Maybe by the year 2038 they'll have magic pills or a cream to hatch a penis of my very own? Maybe the spammers know I just don't have that many years left to give and they have to get their shit to me before I croak? It's worse than a post-dated check. Sorry, dude. If the MS doesn't get me first, the syringomyelia will nail me before I hit 50. Too bad, so sad.

Stephen is offering "high quality medications and natural weight loss." Thanks, but I got enough drugs now to choke a horse, Steve, brand-name, and the size of my ass is only going to be helped by REMOVING IT FROM THE CHAIR from time to time. Seriously, I have an ass print in my chair and if I sit in it wrong, I get a backache. What's worse, it's one of those chairs with heat and massage and now that the cushion is gone, those little doodads that vibrate poke my ass something fierce. Must be I don't have ENOUGH padding back there, so pass the Cheetos and Twinkies, my friend.

Amanda tells me "It's tough being 18 without a boyfriend, help a girl out!" Guess what, Amanda??? I was a teenager once. You couldn't pay me enough to go back there, and there ain't jack shit I can do to help you out anyhow. I got the wrong plumbing and I'm about 18 years too old for you, even if I did swing from that tree, which I don't. Besides, I have the libido of belly button lint, so I'm of no use to you. Go peddle your goods elsewhere.

Monica says "I'm tired of being single, you too?" What? I'm single? When did that happen? How could I miss THAT? Gimme the papers so I can unload this ball and chain I've been dragging around. Oh. Wrong person? Yeah, fuck you and your little dog, too.

Web Cam advertisement for "3rd grade teacher/sexually explicit." Uh. OK. Where the fuck did THAT one come from? That's certainly not a penis extender ad. Talk about barking up the wrong tree. Next, please.

Amanda now says she's 21. Let's pick and age and stick with it, child - 24 was nice. I'd go back there. But you're still not my type, even 176 emails later. And just a cotton-picking minute. . . if the email's dated 2038, whether you claim to be 18 or 21, you're not even jumping from nut to nut yet, little girl.

"Have you ever thought of being a police officer?" Why, yes, I have. In fact, I wanted to enroll in the Ferris State criminal justice program - 50 pounds, 4 kids, 2 blown knees, 1 chronic debilitating and incurable disease, and 20 fucking years ago. Thanks for reminding me of what WOULDACOULDASHOULDA have been, asshole.

Colon Cleanse will flush up to 20 excess pounds out of my body!!!! Well, as long as they don't come off my ass padding, I guess that would be all right. I'd gladly give up these watermelons that occupy the space where my nice perky breasts used to be. That should be 20 pounds, right? Maybe then I could find a bra that actually fits instead of mail ordering from Flint Tent & Awning with enough underwire to build an airplane hangar? Too bad there's not a direct route from my colon to my breasts, I'd just shit them off.

$250,000 life insurance policy for less than $10 a month!!! If they knew the condition I was in, they'd give me a $10 policy for $250,000 a month.

Free sample of Oreo Cakesters. Hmmmm. That might help me with my padding issue.

Singles over 40. Well, I ain't THAT old yet. And I ain't single. This is another of those curiosities like "How did Dick get my email address?"

Conquer hair loss for less!!! Fuck that. I chopped it all off a couple weeks ago anyhow and I don't go anywhere, so who gives a shit if I'm bald or not? Just let nature be, baby. It's only hair. Maybe someday nature will make it stop growing in my armpits like it stopped growing on my head, so I don't need to shave anymore. That'd be cool. Hate hairy, stinky pits.

Pablo is looking for me. Good luck finding me, dick head. I'm firmly rooted in my ass print in a chair in a 7 x 13 basement room with no windows in the middle of nowhere - FOR A REASON!

Forwarding Emails

I love this:

I get about a gazillion emails a year telling me to forward them on, most of which can be verified as hoaxes at Snopes.com, and this is a great response.

Gimme a Friggin Break

Sure are lots of people PO'd lately about the holiday/Christmas argument. This isn't a NEW argument, though--it's just being pushed harder by the minority against the majority, the few who want to force their own beliefs (or lack thereof) onto the rest of us and expecting us to drink the Kool-Aid (don't get me started on the Kool-Aid thing, either).

IT'S A FREE COUNTRY, PEOPLE!!! IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO HAVE CHRISTMAS BUT TO HAVE A HOLIDAY, THAT'S YOUR PREROGATIVE, JUST STOP PUSHING THE REST OF US AROUND!!! It's CHRISTMAS, you know, a celebration of Christ's birthday. If you don't believe, then what the fuck are you taking the day off for? After all, it's just another day to you, isn't it?

Anyhoo. I got this one back LAST Christmas but was not a blogger at that time. For some reason I kept it stored in my Inbox, though, so I now give it to you (to take seriously as I know some will or to take as a joke, which it was meant as, to be laughed at in realizing the lengths some people will go to in order not to offend anyone, which is JUST CRAP--IT'S STILL A FREE COUNTRY AND MY OPINION IS MINE, NOT YOURS, AND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO IGNORE IT JUST AS I HAVE THE RIGHT TO EXPRESS IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!)

Please accept with no obligation, implied or
implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally
conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-
addictive,gender-neutral celebration of the
winter solstice holiday, practiced within the
most enjoyable traditions of the religious
persuasion of your choice, or secular practices
of your choice, with respect for the
religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of
others, or their choice not to practice religious
or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a
fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset
of the generally accepted calendars of choice of
other cultures whose contributions to society
have helped make America great. Not to imply that
America is necessarily greater than any other
country nor the only America in the Western
Hemisphere. And without regard to the race,
creed, color, age, physical ability, religious
faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By
accepting these greetings you are accepting these
terms. This greeting is subject to clarification
or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no
alteration to the original greeting. It implies
no promise by the wisher to actually implement
any of the wishes for herself or himself or
others, and is void where prohibited by law and
is revocable at the sole discretion of the
wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as
expected within the usual application of good
tidings for a period of one year or until the
issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting,
whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to
replacement of this wish or issuance of a new
wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

A Day Off

I saw this floating around back in the Dark Ages when I first started working (away from the farm and for actual taxable money, ya know?). I couldn't resist and had to scam a copy, filed it away and forgot about it for, oh, just about 20-odd years.

I found it.

You're gonna LOVE this one!

"A DAY OFF"

So you want a day off. Let's take a look at what you are asking for:

There are 365 days per year available for work.
There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have
2 days off per week, leaving 261 day available for work.
Since you spend 16 hours each day away from work,
you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available.
You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break.
That accounts for 23 days each year, leaving only
68 days available.
With a one-hour lunch period each day, you have
used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for
work.
You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave.
This leaves you only 20 days available for work.
We are off for 5 holidays per year, so your available
working time is down to 15 days
We generously give you 14 days of vacation per year,
which leaves only 1 day available for work,
and I'll be damned if you're going to take that day off!!!

September 4, 2007

Oh Yeah, Uh-huh - WOOOOO!

Couldn't be truer if I do say so myself. Must be the gallons of Mountain Dew I willingly submit myself to every day. I'M ALL JACKED UP ON THE STUFF! LOL

This is actually pretty dang amusing.

A whole 94%?????

You Are 94% Non Conformist

You're incredibly strange. And a weirdness like yours takes skill to cultivate!

No one really understands you. And you're cool with that. You just hope you never have to understand them!

Versatility in a Nifty Four-Letter Package

I love the word "fuck." I sprinkle it over my conversations when I get upset, angry, or just plain excited. It's the perfect "sentence enhancer" (thank you, Patrick Star) and makes your language very colorful indeed. The secret is knowing when to stifle it and when to let it roar. (I have a huge mouth and have a really hard time stifling, and those little fuckers tend to slip out from time to time without my control. I'm actually shocked that I don't use it here more, but whatever.) Yeah, my lips are tingling from the spiciness of the conversation.

I've seen this floating around in various versions for the better part of 20-some years, but this is one of the more up-to-date, all-encompassing, and best laid out versions I've seen describing the versatility and uses of the word "fuck." If you're offended by the word, by all means, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK.

Yeah, Right, All Over Again

As if it isn't enough that the Upper Peninsula is on fire and I can't go there for vacation, hubby-man checked the extended weather forecast for the Traverse City area and it's supposed to rain all next week. I have a feeling we're staying home after all. If we do, I'm gonna have to break out the cat o' nine tails and make this herd work on my house and get it finished once and for all.

I'm having a mad craving for Chester's Cheesy Puffcorn. I don't know what's up with that. Only one store around here sells them (the itty bitty store near my house) and they had only one bag, so who knows when - or if - they will get more. And cucumbers. I'm dying for a cucumber. I think I should just go out in the kitchen and make a 42-pound batch of fudge and sit and eat it all. Fudge just like my grandma taught me to make. It's so good, it's better than sex. It's even better than Mountain Dew. Hell, it's better than Mountain Dew and sex together (not that I've tried that, I can't fathom the logistics of it and don't like getting sticky; I just mean the pleasure of both of them combined but not necessarily at the same time, kind of a synergistic thing, ya know). It's just yummy, creamy goodness in little brown squares (or big brown squares, depending on how you cut it in the pan). We're not talking fudge with marshmallow cream, either. It gets it's creaminess directly from Grandma. I'm the only one she taught how to make it, and it's all my secret now, so NEINER NEINER NEINER.

Ah, fuck me running with a baseball bat, I'm rambling again. I need some of that ever-elusive sleep.

I Love My Email

Yeah, besides just penis extender and debt relief ads, I occasionally get emails from real people. They're almost always chain emails, but I can't resist reading them and then checking out Snopes to see how long ago the contents of the message were debunked.

Here's the one I got today:

*27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for.............*
Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will culminate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am midnight. It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this much closer in 2287.

Share this with your friends as NO ONE ALIVE TODAY will ever see it again.

It's cute but come on, really. I know how busy the 3 other people in my address book are (whoa, 3 whole people - yeah, I'm popular) and don't bother sending these on. Sometimes they're old (like this one) and irrelevant but mostly they're just garbage gobbling up ether and circle the web for years. I love getting mail just like anyone else and don't mind once in a while getting silly stuff, but when I get 482 messages a week like this one or this one or this one, it gets old after a while.

That's a New One

Google Search leads some curious seekers to My Boat (some of which, I am sad to report, have sent my boat to the bottom much like The Fitz that fateful November day):

“your body is so much fun i just want to give it a big stroke. you’ve gone flat and you’re all gooey. I shall not play with you until you have a wash lyrics”

Curious, my ass. Have you gone mad? This must be some new song infiltrating the air waves and obviously some people’s brain waves? Do they even truly have brain wave activity? Get the EEG machine, stat!

I got a giggle when Google and Yahoo searches like “pooped her pants” and “why does shit float” landed curiosity seekers into the depths of my disillusionment, but this one takes the cake, bakes it, eats it, and then, well. . . never mind. You get the picture, or hopefully not. There have been quite a few “pooped her pants” searches that landed people here, probably in response to the Alli clip on YouTube with the girl shitting her pants, which was pretty damn funny. As for “why does shit float,” what person in the world has NOT wondered that at some point in their lives (usually before the age of 6, and why someone is looking that up on the internet and not just asking mom and dad is beyond me; or if it is an adult and they are worried, they should be asking A DOCTOR instead of people like me, since I will just laugh until I piss my pants, fall off my chair and break yet another $125-$250 chair, and then get pissed because I have to fork over money for a new one).

It is a funny thing about chairs. I have had a few of them the last few years and they just do not seem to last as long as I think they should, but that might have to do with the fact that I sit in mine about 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, transcribing my transcriptionist’s transcription on my transcriber, and they just are not meant for that kind of abuse. I thought I got the Queen of all chairs (although it might be a King, considering the. . . *cough*. . . never mind.) when I got my last one, which has heat and massage. Too bad that my big fat ass mooshed all the padding down and the little vibrator thingies are now poking my ass instead of massaging it. Oh, and THE BOY swiped the controller, so I have no way to turn the stupid thing on anymore anyhow and those vibrator thingies are pretty useless for any purpose other than causing me discomfort. The best chair I ever had was the one I had at the gynecologist’s office I worked at years ago. That met a sad demise as well, due to a laughing accident. I wish I may, I wish I might, find such a chair, for working all night. I need to quit laughing so hard, but I cannot help myself when stuff just tickles my fancy AND my funny bone.

Duct Tape is Good For. . . ?

Anyone ever catch that program, The Red Green Show, the guy with the duct tape? Good for a giggle.

Duct tape is one of the more versatile substances on Earth, and some people can become pretty creative when it comes to how they use it. There is even a scholarship contest run by Duck Brand Duct Tape, Stuck At Prom, where contestants can make their prom-wear using duct tape and enter to win prizes. This stuff comes in a whole rainbow of colors, so no wonder people can find so many uses for it.

This little bit had me choke on my Mountain Dew until it came out my nose, which really hurt by the way, but I couldn’t help laughing:

What’s your favorite use for duct tape? OR. . . Why won’t you use the stuff? Share your stories, folks!

This is a Good One

I couldn’t help myself. After I finished reading it, I just HAD to pass a link to this on, even if the thought of Bush’s genitals was protruding intruding into the deeper recesses of my subconscious (and that’s pretty fucking deep).

Gavin: This Tu-Tu's For You

Just cuz I said I would find one specifically for you. Hope you look better in it than this guy does. Now get outta here, you clown, and go entertain your wife.

PS: I think you could probably do without the shoes, my dear.

Good Grief

You Are 7 Up

Understated and subtle, people warm up to you slowly.
But once they’re hooked, they can’t imagine going back to anyone else!
Your best soda match: Diet CokeStay away from: Mountain Dew

What Kind of Soda Are You?

This is hilarious. I absolutely DETEST 7-Up. You couldn’t pay me to drink the shit. I won’t touch diet pop (we call it “pop” here, not SODA) of any sort because I can’t stand the sickening over-sweetness that makes me feel like I’ve grown fur on my tongue... and STAY AWAY FROM MOUNTAIN DEW?!?!?!?!?!

ROFL. Oops, I think I PMP again.

I wouldn’t survive a single day if I couldn’t Do the Dew. I am addicted to this yellow-green carbonated, high-fructose-corn-syrup-sweetened, caffeinated magic water. It’s the stuff of life, so I’m definitely hooked. It’s better than Oreo cookies. We’re talking epiphany here, when the Dew is ice cold, from the moment it crosses the lips and races across the tongue to the throat, tickling taste buds along the way. Hell, it’s is better than sex!

I gotta go get me another one.

UPDATE: OH, yeah, and I also like how “understated and subtle” I am. In your dreams. I already know people are slow to warm up to me, because of the fact that I’m NOT understated and subtle, but the real question is: ARE YOU HOOKED?
