I Love My Email

Yeah, besides just penis extender and debt relief ads, I occasionally get emails from real people. They're almost always chain emails, but I can't resist reading them and then checking out Snopes to see how long ago the contents of the message were debunked.

Here's the one I got today:

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will culminate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am midnight. It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this much closer in 2287.

It's cute but come on, really. I know how busy the 3 other people in my address book are (whoa, 3 whole people - yeah, I'm popular) and don't bother sending these on. Sometimes they're old (like this one) and irrelevant but mostly they're just garbage gobbling up ether and circle the web for years. I love getting mail just like anyone else and don't mind once in a while getting silly stuff, but when I get 482 messages a week like this one or this one or this one, it gets old after a while.
