After All That Hemming and Hawing
We're going camping after all. Just for a couple of days, but it's still a couple of days my ass won't be stuck in the imprint in my chair and I can cut the chains that bind me to my desk 24/7. Where to go, where to go? The little kids have never been to Sleeping Bear Dunes, so maybe there. Traverse City is always nice. Oldest son turns 16 when we take off, needs to log hours for his driver's permit on different types of roads, so maybe I-75 all the way up to the Upper Peninsula and across the Mighty Mac? So much to think about, so much to pack. I need a frigging school bus to pack everyone and their shit but my poor, tired old vans will just have to do. I'm so excited, though, I might just pee my pants. I rarely get out of the house anymore, let alone up north.
I bet my chair will be lonely, not having my ass to keep it company.

I remember going to Sleeping Bear Dunes as a kid. It seemed like I was climbing those things for hours!
Diesel: COOL! We also went there when I was a kid, almost every year, and I took my boys there years ago when they were small. It's like a family tradition. You very well might have been climbing for hours - they go on for miles.
If I tried to climb them now, it would take me roughly 12-1/2 days to make it to the top of the big dune, and I'd be shitting canaries and peanut butter when I got to the top. Nah, I'm content to sit at the bottom at a table in the shade and take pictures of my wee ones as they make the ritual trips up and down 17 times in a single day like we did when we were kids.
